Overture:
A Signal…
You’re not who you think you are.
You are being who you think other people think you ought to be.
That’s still not who you really are…
You’ve been playing a part, a role, a character…
…participating in a game of hide-and-seek… played between You and Your Identity.
The Game? Well, that’s complicated, maybe… we’ll come back to that.
The gameplay, however, that’s simple…
So simple we tend to miss it.
You want something to be different.
About your life, or your self, or your experience.
Seeking something… the answers, the key, some secret knowledge… to get what you think you want, to fix something you perceive is broken or right something wrong.
You’ve looked high and low, explored the methods and models, the modalities and preachings… you’ve been around the block so to speak… seeking something…
You’re trying to get something… trying to accomplish something…
Achieve something.
Acquire something.
Become something or someone.
One thing after the next.
Never quite getting “there.”
Rarely satisfying your wants or needs… long enough to make a “difference.”
A difference significant enough to make you feel better… feel how you want to.
About yourself.
About your life.
…about how you think others see you, what you’ve done… and how you’ve gone about it.
Those are all the “other” games we play.
The “games” we play to keep ourselves occupied (and unaware of the actual game playing out behind the scenes)…
They serve to keep us busy trying to get, while the game is about being and creating… not “getting.”
“Getting” is a by-product… and when our focus is on getting, getting becomes difficult, and when we get whatever it is we think we’re after, rarely does it do the trick.
The distinction between creating and getting makes all the difference.
Understanding and applying that distinction is how we make our reality different.
That’s what you’re here looking for, right?
That’s what people like us do. We’re seeking “IT.” Always digging…
We dig because we know it’s there…
We’ve seen “It.”
We’ve felt “it.”
We want to understand it.
Understand what it is and how it works.
Some of us even have words to describe it or a name for it…
Some of us are even aware of our doing it, playing with it, and watching the magic occur right before our eyes.
We want to do it at will, constantly, and consistently.
Being aware of our doing it.
“It.” Whatever you call it. Whatever you think it is or might be…
It’s so simple we tend to miss it.
It’s hiding in plain sight, right under your nose…
And on we go, seeking “how,” rarely considering “the what” and its significance… save for the occasional moment we happen to catch a glimpse of it, and our doing it, knowing full well that we saw it… and felt it.
…remembering what we once knew for certain and have slowly forgotten.
That this whole thing is magic, and we’re somehow a part of it…
…maybe even “It,” the magic itself.
Coming?
