Hey hey.
This column won’t be for everyone… some won’t care, some may not like it, others, they won’t get it.
This “column” of PWC will be less fiction and more of a blog for me, the author, the guy who goes by Justin and some call DIG.
I will, however, drop hints and clues and use this space to create openers and occasionally open loops for what is going on in the rest of the paper.
If you do care to follow along with this section, know that many of the names and dates have been altered in order to maintain the privacy I have created for myself and my family; reason #2 I am doing all of this under a pen name, pseudonym, avatar, or whatever you want to call it.
You can find the other reasons here.
What to Know:
We (the Woman, the dogs, the cats, and the chickens) literally live in a castle at 9,000 feet of elevation in the southern Rocky Mountains.
We’re far enough south to get lots of really great weather and far enough up to get lots of crazy ass weather… and lions & tigers & bears… just kidding, there aren’t any tigers up here.
We host gatherings for family and have a very small handful of neighbors, who are all a treat, a group of wonderful, caring, and interesting people.
At night the stars shine bright as there’s no light pollution, and during the days there’s no knock knock knocking on my door from people I don’t know trying to sell me shit I don’t want.
We have a TV… It’s in a guest room and not plugged in.
We make our own power, have our own water, and get most of our groceries delivered. Yep. It’s heaven.
No, you can’t visit. Sorry, not sorry.
That’s about it.
Shall we?
How It’s Going.
These entries will be posted in reverse chronological order, with the newest entry at the top.
Mid march. Winters on. Winters off. Springs here. Not here yet.
Damn near a land hurricane today. Started around 3 am… pulling a storm in, should get some snow.
Oh look! It’s snowing…
Wait, the suns out…
Wait…
its snowing.
Um. The suns out and its snowing.
The wind is still blowing like a frieghttrain. The clouds racing across the sky, snow one minute, sun the next. Probably get less than an inch out of this… the wind won’t let it settle on the gound.
How This Came To Be.
And so it is.

A long long time ago…
When the kids were not yet in school.
The Woman & I took a 10-day car camping/4-wheeling trip with our dogs around the Southern Rockies to find our future home — where we wanted to move to when the kids were grown, out of school, and out of the house.
Seven days into the trip we found it, the general area we knew would one day be our home.
We fell in love with the landscape, the weather, the foliage, and the peace of it all at above 9k feet… but certainly not much higher as it gets hard to grow much of anything worth eating.
Our children were young… we ourselves still kids, middle-ish twenties. We knew we would achieve this, someday, somehow.
Not twenty years later and here we are. A Castle, all our own, in the middle of a private thousand acres. We made it.
